According to oddsmakers, Germany is a -227 favorite to win on the moneyline. Mexico is a +600 underdog, while a draw is set at +360. The total is set at 3 goals.
Neuer a question mark for Germany
Germany goalie Manuel Neuer has missed all but four games of the club season with Bayern Munich due to a broken foot, but insists he is healthy enough to man the net for the World Cup. Neuer played all 90 minutes in a friendly against Austria earlier this month, while versus Saudi Arabia he played 45 minutes and younger promising goalie Marc-Andre ter Stegen played the other half. Consider the Germans one of the favorite once again to win the World Cup, although everyone will be gunning for the previous champs beginning with Mexico.
Mexico's 16th World Cup appearance
Although Mexico has never advanced past the quarterfinals in the World Cup, it has qualified 16 times and has become a mainstay every four years. Hirving Lozano, a star at PSV, will lead the Mexicans into action. Only 22 years old, Lozano is only at the tip of the iceberg as far as his talent goes and could be eying a big move in the near future. Additionally, Carlos Vela has been playing very well at Los Angeles FC and will look to continue his fine play in the World Cup. He scored seven goals in his first 11 games with Los Angeles FC.
It would be nice to believe Mexico can pull off the upset here, just to see Germany face a little adversity after winning the World Cup four years ago. While I can't pick Mexico, I could easily see it score a couple goals and still losing. Both teams have a lot of offensive firepower and I'm not sure the defenses or goalies can keep up. Let's take the over and have fun watching a game with plenty of offense,
