2011 College World Series Odds
(The Spread) – The 2011 College World Series will begin this weekend in Omaha, Nebraska and oddsmakers have made Virginia the opening favorite.
As previously mentioned, oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made Virginia the favorite with 7/2 odds, although Vanderbilt is listed right behind the Cavaliers at 15/4 odds. Those two teams would be considered the favorites to win this year’s College World Series based on the odds.
The mid-range favorites include Florida at 4/1, South Carolina at 6/1, North Carolina at 7/1 and Texas at 17/2. The two long shots are Texas A&M at 11/1 and California at 12/1.
Bracket A will feature opening round games between Vanderbilt and North Carolina at 1:00PM ET on Saturday, and a tilt between Texas and Florida at 6:00PM ET. Bracket B has California lined up to face Virginia at 1:00PM ET on Sunday, while Texas A&M will battle South Carolina at 6:00PM ET that same day. All games will be shown on ESPN.
Heading into the tournament, the Longhorns have the most College World Series experience. They’re 82-55 overall, finishing first place in 1949, 1950, 1975, 1983, 2002 and 2005. Next up would be South Carolina, which has a 23-16 CWS record and is coming off a CWS championship in 2010.
Florida’s best finish in the CWS came back in 2005 when it finished second, while North Carolina finished second in both 2006 and 2007. Cal won the tournament in 1947 and 1957, while Texas A&M (1993) and Virginia (2009) have finished no higher than fifth, respectively. This will be Vanderbilt’s first-ever appearance in the College World Series.
The 2011 College World Series will kick off on Saturday, June 18 and conclude on June 29 in Omaha, Nebraska at TD Ameritrade Park. TD Ameritrade Park will replace Rosenblatt Stadium, which hosted the CWS from 1950-2010.
