Winner Takes All
The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers will decide the NBA championship on Thursday night in Southern California. Here’s the incredible Game 7 preview.
BroburySports.com has made L.A. a seven-point favorite with a total of 187-points. Boston is going for its 18th world title, while Los Angeles is looking for Sweet 16.
Los Angeles was six-point ‘chalk’ for Game 6 at home on Tuesday. The spread could have been 20 and they still would have ‘covered’ with an 89-67 win.
The final score again went way ‘under’ the 190-point total. The ‘under’ is 4-0 in the last four games, and that’s why the total has dipped for Thursday.
The big news out of last game (besides the blowout) is the Kendrick Perkins injury. The center appears to have a badly sprained knee. If he does play, it could be a ‘Willis Reed’ type appearance coming out of the locker room.
Either way, expect Perkins to be very limited if he does suit up. That doesn’t bode well for a team that is already outsized by the Lakers’ frontline, who dominated the boards in Game 6.
Boston needs an all-world game from Paul Pierce to have a chance. 15 points isn't going to cut it. He needs at least 25 as you know Kobe Bryant will get his 30. Pierce has superstar talent and is the one player on Boston who can consistently create his own shot or drive to the basket.
A hot three-point shooting night from Ray Allen would help too.
The bench for Boston came up big on their home floor, but they were awful last game. They shot a combined 4-of-26 for 13 points. Meanwhile, the much maligned Lakers subs had 25 points.
Boston can’t count on the officiating in Game 7. They shot just 10 free throws last game and aren’t likely to get a ton of road calls on Thursday.
Los Angeles is 10-1 SU at home in the playoffs and 7-4 ATS.
Boston is in a real tough position here, but the Lakers earned the homecourt in the regular season The Celtics are a veteran team who plays well on the road, but asking them to win this game seems a bit much.
Will the Lakers get back-to-back titles or will Boston shock them once again?
