Master of Hounds Belmont Update
(The Spread) – Master of Hounds’ odds to win the 2011 Belmont Stakes continue to improve. Is he a potential sleeper candidate?
When oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog released the opening odds for the 2011 Belmont Stakes, Master of Hounds was listed at 9/1. Even though his odds have dropped to 10/1 the morning of the race, this is one horse to keep an eye on.
If you check out his most recent race history, it’s not pretty outside of a second place finish at the Grade 2 UAE Derby on March 26. But despite his fifth place showing at the Kentucky Derby and his sixth place effort in last November’s Grade 2 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf, Master of Hounds is an attractive play for tonight’s Belmont.
That’s because the experience that he acquired running on dirt at the Kentucky Derby should aid him at Belmont Park on Saturday. He has plenty of speed to win and is trained by one of the best in Aidan O’Brien. At 10/1, Master of Hounds might be worth a look to finish somewhere in the money.
