St. Jude Classic Picks
The 2010 St. Jude Classic begins Thursday and runs through the weekend. Our team of handicappers hand out three picks for this weekend.
David Toms (28/1)
Talk about great odds for someone who already has two wins here. Toms has been one of the most consistent players in Memphis over the years, which include his two victories and his tie for second place last year. He appears to be rounding into form and is a safe bet at 28/1 seeing as how he knows this course well and usually is competitive.
Brian Gay (33/1)
Gay ran away with the St. Jude Classic last year, finishing the tournament with an 18-under 262 for his third PGA Tour win. The victory helped him earn a trip to the U.S. Open and lately, he looks like he’s playing with a ton of confidence. He shot a four-under 66 in the final round last year, helping him beat runners-up David Toms and Bryce Molder. He needs a solid performance this week to help him gear up for the 2010 US Open, an event he hopes to do better at than last year when he missed the cut. We think he offers a ton of value at 33/1.
Robert Allenby (22/1)
Depsite missin ghte cut last week, Allenby has played very well this season. He has the best record here over the past three years, with a pair of top 5 finishes to his credit. He recently finished second in The Players Championship at Sawgrass in early May and it’s only a matter of time before he earns his first victory. Maybe it’ll come this weekend in Memphis.
