Belmont Stakes Payouts & Results
ELMONT, NY (The Spread) – Even though horse racing fans didn’t have a chance to see I’ll Have Another go for history, the 2012 Belmont Stakes was highly entertaining.
Just like Bodemeister in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, Paynter raced out to an early lead at Belmont Park on Saturday. But just like Bodemeister in the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes, Paynter was caught from behind in the closing seconds.
Union Rags became the 144th horse to win the Belmont Stakes when he narrowly edged out Paynter down the stretch. Paynter finished second while Atigun placed third and Street Life came from all the way in the back to finish fourth. Dullahan, who was a co-favorite along with Union Rags, had a brutal showing and never challenged the lead once.
As the winner, Union Rags paid out $7.50 for a $2 wager on win, $4.20 for place and $3.40 for show. Paynter paid out $5.10 for a wager on place and $3.90 for a wager on show, while Atigun paid out $10.60 for a wager on Show.
A $2.00 EXACTA of Union Rags and Paynter paid out $31.40 while a $1.00 TRIFECTA on Union Rags, Paynter and Atigun paid out $248.00. A $1.00 SUPERFECTA of Union Rags, Paynter, Atigun and Street Life, in that order, paid out $953.00.Want More From TheSpread.com? Follow us on Twitter and Facebook or Subscribe to Our News Feeds!
