Odds: Mucho Macho Man opened at 8/1 to win the Belmont Stakes but according to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, he is now 10/1 to win this Saturday’s race. Other contenders with somewhat similar mid-range odds are Brilliant Speed and Santiva, who are 16/1 to win the Belmont.

Race History: Mucho Macho Man finished sixth at the Preakness but before that outing he finished third in back-to-back races at the Grade 2 Louisiana Derby on March 26 and at the Kentucky Derby on May 7. He also won the Grade 2 Risen Star on February 19, took fourth at the Grade 3 Holy Bull on January 30, second at the Grade 2 Remsen on November 27 and second at the Grade 2 Nashua on November 6.

Outlook: This is a horse that has consistently run in the money or just outside of it, which makes his sixth place finish at the Preakness all the more disappointing. That said, he lost a shoe when he finished sixth at Pimlico, which may have been the main culprit to his poor outing. If his shoe problems are behind him, then it’s possibly we could see Mucho Macho Man back in the money come Saturday.
