Cs Need Team Effort
It’s going to take a total team effort for the Boston Celtics to tie up their series with the Los Angeles Lakers. They trail 2-1 heading into Thursday’s Game 4 in Boston.
BroburySports.com has just released the odds and Boston is a 3 ½-point favorite with a total of 190 ½-points.
Boston was a 2 ½-point favorite for Game 3 at home Tuesday night. That didn’t matter much as Los Angeles won 91-84 to regain home court advantage.
The 175 combined points scored went way ‘under’ the 191 ½-point total. The ‘under’ is 1-0-1 in this series.
The Celtics did have a chance to win at the end, but fell short. They can’t afford to fall behind 3-1, so this is a must win.
Boston got 25 points from Kevin Garnett, a much better effort after averaging 11 PPG the first two games. The ‘Big Ticket’ was dominated so badly in Los Angeles by Pau Gasol, that it looked like he may never recover.
Garnett’s effort was ruined as Ray Allen scored just two points (0-of-13 shooting from the field). Allen was the Game 2 hero with 32 points. Paul Pierce also struggled last game and he’s shooting just 36.1 percent for the series.
The one constant to Boston’s play is Rajon Rondo. He’s playing his normal, solid all-around game, but can’t be counted on to carry the scoring load. The ‘Big 3’ of Garnett, Pierce and Allen must all excel on the same night for the first time this series.
Los Angeles, on the other hand, knows it will get big scoring from Kobe Bryant. It may take him 29 shots like last game, but he’ll get his points one way or the other.
Derek Fisher had a clutch game with 16 points, including key plays late in the contest. Gasol needs to be as aggressive as he was in L.A. as no Celtic can stop him in the low post.
Gasol also had 10 rebounds and L.A. out-rebounded Boston 43-35. That’s impressive coming on the road.
About the only negative right now for L.A. is Andrew Bynum’s knee. He re-injured it last game, but says he will definitely play. If the team gets 30 minutes from him, they should be happy.
