Uruguay W. Cup Odds
Despite a rich history of success in the World Cup, including two championships, Uruguay isn’t given much hope to win the 2010 title.
Uruguay World Cup History:
Number of Previous World Cup Appearances: 10
Last Appearance: 2002
Best Finish: Champions (1930/1950)
All-Time World Cup Record: 15-15-10
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Uruguay has been given 150/1 odds to win the World Cup. Spain is the favorite coming in with odds of 4/1.
2010 World Cup Qualifying:
Uruguay qualified for the World Cup through the CONMEBOL. Uruguay was paired up with powers like Brazil and Argentina, and it finished fifth in the group with a 6-6-6 record. Uruguay scored 28 goals and allowed 20. By finishing fifth, Uruguay had to go on to face Costa Rica to qualify and it pulled off a 2-1 victory on aggregate.
Uruguay is in the very competitive Group A of the World Cup where it is paired with South Africa, Mexico, and France. While France is the clear favorite, the remaining three are all relatively equal, which leaves Uruguay with an opportunity to break into the Round of 16. While it hasn’t reached the Round of 16 since 1990, look for Uruguay to have a spirited effort this year. While we wouldn’t recommend betting on them, we also wouldn’t be surprised see them make a quarterfinal run.
