Cameroon W. Cup Odds
A coaching change helped spur Cameroon to an appearance in the 2010 World Cup, but the team is still far from a favorite to win this year’s event.
Cameroon World Cup History:
Number of Previous World Cup Appearances: 5
Last Appearance: 2002
Best Finish: Quarterfinals (1990)
All-Time World Cup Record: 4-6-7
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com, Cameroon has been given 125/1 odds to win the World Cup. Spain is the favorite coming in with odds of 4/1.
2010 World Cup Qualifying:
After a slow start which including a loss to Togo and a draw with Morocco, Cameroon underwent a coaching change that saw Paul Le Guen take over and carry the team to qualifying as it finished on top of its qualifying group, besting Togo, Morroco, and Gabon.
Cameroon is in Group E along with Holland, Denmark, and Japan. As Holland should easily win the group, the second seeding will be open among the remaining three teams. While Cameroon has been riding a nice wave of success under its new coach, the pieces don’t seem in place for this team to make a serious run. Cameroon hasn’t been truly tested against the best in the world and it would be a tough task for the team to not only reach the Round of 16, but to win the entire World Cup.
