Dullahan Belmont Odds & Preview
ELMONT, NY (The Spread) – With Triple Crown contender I'll Have Another being scratched from Saturday's race, the 2012 Belmont Stakes is now Dullahan's to win.
With Triple Crown contender I'll Have Another being scratched from Saturday's race, oddsmakers have now made Dullahan a 5/2 favorite while Union Rags is right behind him at 3/1. Paynter is 5/1, Street Life is 8/1 and both My Adonis and Optimizer are 15/1, respectively.
Dullahan hasn’t finished lower than fifth in nine career races. He’s coming off a third-place showing at the Kentucky Derby and in his race before that he won the Grade I Blue Grass on April 14. He also placed second at the Grade II Palm Beach and won the Grade I Breeders’ Futurity on October 8 of last year.
Phil Needham, Judy Needham and Bena Halecky are Dullahan’s breeders while Dale L. Romans is his trainer. He’s owned by Donegal Racing and enters Saturday’s race with a 9-2-2-3 career record and a 98 Best Beyer. Considering he finished third in the 2012 Kentucky Derby and will be running on fresh legs, Dullahan should finish in the money.
This will be the 144th running of the Belmont Stakes, with the post time scheduled for 6:35PM ET.
