South Korea World Cup History:
Number of Previous World Cup Appearances: 7
Last Appearance: 2006
Best Finish:
Fourth Place (2002)
All-Time World Cup Record: 4-13-7
Odds:
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com,
South Korea has been given 250/1 odds to win the World Cup.
Spain is the favorite coming in with odds of 4/1.
2010 World Cup Qualifying:
South Korea won Group B of the qualifying process, as it finished 4-0-4 in an 8-game round robin format.
South Korea finished first in the group with 16 points, as it scored 12 goals and allowed just four.
South Korea was one of two teams to earn the automatic qualified, joining
North Korea.
Betting Analysis:
South Korea is in Group B to open the World Cup, joining
Argentina,
Nigeria, and
Greece.
Argentina is the team to beat in the group, while
Greece and
Nigeria are average teams. Should
South Korea find a way to get hot, getting two wins in group play is a reasonable thought.
South Korea is coming off a pair of 1-0 losses to
Spain and
Belarus, but prior to that, it had won four straight and seven of its last eight in world play.
South Korea did find a way to reach the semifinals of the World Cup in 2002, so they may be worth a second look. But, if you feel like taking a risk, keep the bets low as the pay out would be big enough with any bet.
