My Adonis Belmont Odds & Preview
ELMONT, NY (The Spread) – After placing third in his latest race, My Adonis will be a long shot when he enters the field at this year’s Belmont Stakes this Saturday.
Oddsmakers have installed My Adonis as a 30/1 long shot to win this weekend while 2012 Triple Crown contender I’ll Have Another is the current favorite at 11/10. Dullahan is 15/4, Union Rags is 21/4 and Paynter is 9/1. Street Life is considered a mid-range long shot at 14/1.
My Adonis posted back-to-back wins on September 24 (Maiden Special Weight) and October 22 (Jean Lafitte) last year but his track record has been rather spotty in graded races. He finished ninth in the Grade II Delta Downs Jackpot on November 19 of last year but then responded with a third-place showing in the Grade II Holy Bull on January 29 and was the runner-up to Hansen in the Grade III Gotham on March 3. That said, he finished seventh in the Grade I Wood Memorial on April 7 before placing third in the Cananero II on May 5.
My Adonis is owned by George and Lori Hall and is trained by Kelly J. Breen. There’s no question that this is a talented horse but considering he finished seventh in his only Grade I stakes it’s hard to toss money on My Adonis this weekend. He’s a sleeper to at least finish in the money, however.
This will be the 144th running of the Belmont Stakes, with the post time scheduled for 6:35PM ET. I’ll Have Another will attempt to become the 12th Triple Crown winner after he was the 33rd horse to win the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.
