Harlan's Hello Belmont Odds
(Note: Harlan's Hello is no long racing at the Belmont)
(The Spread) – Could Harlan’s Hello be a long shot sleeper in the 2011 Belmont this Saturday?
Odds: When the opening odds were released for the Belmont a couple of weeks ago, Harlan’s Hello was listed at 16/1. But according to oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog, Harlan’s Hello is now a 35/1 long shot to win this year’s Belmont, putting him in such company as Monzon (35/1) and Isn’t He Perfect (45/1).
Race History: Harlan’s Hello is actually coming off a victory at a May 13 allowance. Before that win, he finished seventh at another allowance on May 1 and sixth at the Grade 3 Bay Shore on April 9. He did win a MSW on March 25 and placed second at another MSW on March 9.
Outlook: It’s hard to know what to make of Harlan’s Hello. He certainly has plenty of race experience throughout his career, but he doesn’t have much experience against top competition. His only graded stakes race come in April at the Bay Shore and he finished sixth. He’s probably not much of a value at this point but if his odds continue to drop, he may be worth a look as a shot-in-the-dark hopeful. (Just don’t lay major coin.)
