Lakers, Celtics Tied Up
The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers could be headed for a long series, but it’s not because of the officials. The teams are tied 1-1 with Game 3 in Boston on Tuesday night.
BroburySports.com has the odds out already and Boston is a 2 ½-point favorite with a total of 192 ½-points.
Each team has won and ‘covered’ one game this series. Boston won 103-94 on Sunday as six-point underdogs. That was imperative as only three teams in history have come back from an 0-2 deficit in the NBA Finals.
The Celtics were dominated down low once again in Game 2 by Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum. Gasol even trash talked about Kevin Garnett before the game (albeit unintentionally), but the former ‘Big Ticket’ is either too old or too injured to make him pay.
Boston was able to win based on the record three-point shooting of Ray Allen and the all-around brilliance of point guard Rajon Rondo. Rondo had a triple-double and he’s able to cause havoc for L.A. even with Kobe Bryant guarding him.
Bryant was in foul trouble last game and some of the calls were brutal. Boston suffered many bad calls as well, and L.A. even ended up with a big free throw advantage. That made the officiating blunders a wash.
The Celtics now return home where they’re 7-2 SU and ATS in the playoffs. They weren’t great at home during the regular season, but you can throw that out the window.
The Lakers are 4-4 SU and ATS on the road in the playoffs. They’ve looked bad there at times, but good in others like closeout games at Phoenix and Utah.
Boston is at a disadvantage in the 2-3-2 format. It’s very hard to sweep all three middle games, although a couple of squads (Miami, Detroit) have done it. The series will go back to L.A, but all they care about is Game 3 on Tuesday.
In addition to the Game odds, make sure you check all the props. The Series MVP will be updated soon and both Allen and Rondo will have intriguing odds, as well as Gasol and Bynum.
