World Cup Group E Odds
One of the more competitive groups in the 2010 World Cup will be Group E, where the Netherlands is favored to win.
The 2010 World Cup takes place from June 11 through July 11 in South Africa. In each group, four teams will compete in a round robin format where each team plays each other once. The team with the best record will be considered the group winner.
Netherlands has been given 8/15 odds win Group E according to the online sports book BroburySports.com. Other odds to win are Denmark (15/4), Cameroon (9/2), and Japan (12/1).
Netherlands has never won the World Cup, but finished runner-up two different times. It reached the Round of 16 in 2006 after not qualifying in 2002. During qualifying for this World Cup, Netherlands went a perfect 8-0-0 with a goal differential of +15. Netherlands opens play with Denmark.
Denmark didn’t qualify for the 2006 World Cup after reaching the round of 16 in the previous two. They won two games in each of those campaigns.
Cameroon last played in the World Cup in 2002. It hasn’t reached the round of 16 since 1990. Cameroon has four World Cup wins in 17 games. Cameroon opens play with Japan.
Japan is appearing in its fourth-straight World Cup. It reached the round of 16 last in 2002 but failed to get a win in 2006. Japan went 8-2-4 in qualifying for this World Cup with a goal differential of +14.
