World Cup Group B Odds
When it comes to Group B in the 2010 World Cup, Argentina is the clear favorite to win the four-team competition.
The 2010 World Cup takes place from June 11 through July 11 in South Africa. In each group, four teams will compete in a round robin format where each team plays each other once. The team with the best record will be considered the group winner.
Argentina has been given 4/9 odds win Group B according to the online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com. Other odds to win are Nigeria (9/2), Greece (6/1), and South Korea (9/1).
Argentina is a two-time World Cup champion, winning in 1978 and 1986. The Argentineans have reached the round of 16 tournament in eight of the last nine World Cups. Argentina reached the quarterfinals in 2006. In qualifying play, Argentina went 8-6-4 with a goal differential of +3. Two non-victories came against Brazil. Argentina opens World Cup play with Nigeria.
Nigeria didn’t qualify for the 2006 World Cup but it made the 16-team tournament in 1998 and 1994, winning two games in both of those events. Nigeria is 2-0-2 in its last four matches.
Greece has competed in just one World Cup, playing in 1994. Greece lost all three games in 1994 and failed to score a goal. In qualifying for this year’s Cup, Greece went 6-2-2 with a goal differential of +10. Greece opens play with South Korea.
South Korea, also known as the Korea Republic Football team, has played in the last six World Cups. It only advanced to the round of 16 one time in that stretch, where it finished fourth in 2002. South Korea is 7-4 in its last 11 games, including wins over Japan and Finland.
