According to oddsmakers from online sports book, Nadal had 1/3 odds to win the French Open, meaning $300 bet on Nadal will pay out $100. For Schiavone, she was part of The Field that had 8/1 odds, so a $100 bet on her will pay out $800.

Nadal cruised to his title, defeating Robin Soderling in three sets, 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 to win his first French Open. The master of the clay court, Nadal is now one French Open title behind Bjorn Borg for the all-time lead. Sunday’s win also moves Nadal into the No. 1 ranking in the world, jumping ahead of Roger Federer.

Schiavone defeated Samantha Stosur in Saturday’s women’s final. Schiavone won in two sets, 6-4, 7-6 to claim the title. Schiavone became the first Italian to win a grand slam title. She entered the tournament as the 17th seed and she defeated four top-10 players in her march to the title.

The next tennis grand slam event is Wimbledon, which starts on June 21.
