Brave Victory Update
One of the relative unknowns entering the 2009 Belmont Stakes is contender Brave Victory, who is one of the long shots to win today in Elmont, New York.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made Brave Victory a 20/1 long shot to win this year’s Belmont. He joins Miner’s Escape and Luv Gov as the three horses with the longest odds to win on Saturday.
In four starts as a 3-year-old, Brave Victory as one win and one third place showing. In his last three races, he finished third at the Peter Pan on May 9, seventh at the Coolmore Lexington on April 18, and fourth at the Swale on March 28.
Much like fellow long shot Miner’s Escape, Brave Victory is largely inexperienced, but that doesn’t mean he should be counted out for victory. He’s obviously not as intriguing as a horse with midrange odds and who competed at either the Kentucky Derby or Preakness, but he should be well rested after not facing stiff competition over the last couple months.
The 141st running of the Belmont Stakes is today, with the post time being at 6:30PM ET. The race will be live from Belmont Park in Elmont, New York and for complete odds on today’s race, see below. Also, be sure to check out our 2009 Belmont Stakes Viewing Guide for more information.
