Guyana Star Dweej Belmont Odds
ELMONT PARK, NY (The Spread) – One of the potential sleepers at this weekend’s Belmont Stakes is massive long shot Guyana Star Dweej.
Oddsmakers currently list Guyana Star Dweej as a 50/1 long shot, which makes him, Five Sixteen and Ravelo’s Boy the long shots to win this Saturday’s Belmont Stakes. I’ll Have Another is the current favorite at 3/2, while Dullahan is 7/2 and Union Rags is 4/1.
Despite his long odds to win this Saturday’s Belmont Stakes, Guyana Star Dweej has been impressive this year, albeit against weak competition. He placed second at a Maiden Special Weight on March 17 and also won a Maiden Special Weight less than a month later on April 7. In his last race before the Belmont, Guyana Star Dweej placed second at the Allowance Optional Claimer on April 27.
Lavin Bloodstock & Leroy S. Close are Guyana Star Dweej’s breeders and Doodnauth Shivmangal is his trainer. He enters the Belmont with a career record of 9-1-5-0 and he’s posted a Best Beyer of 84. Granted, he hasn’t raced against elite competition all year but there’s something to be said for a horse that has finished in the money in his last three races.
This will be the 144th running of the Belmont Stakes, with the post time scheduled for 6:35PM ET. I’ll Have Another will attempt to become the 12th Triple Crown winner after he was the 33rd horse to win the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.
