Updated Belmont Stakes Odds
ELMONT, NY (The Spread) – Updated odds have been released for this weekend’s Belmont Stakes and Triple Crown contender I’ll Have Another remains favored.
When the opening odds for the Belmont Stakes were released last week, I’ll Have Another was a 13/10 favorite while Dullahan and Union Rags were both 5/1. But all three contenders’ odds have changed, as I’ll Have Another is now 3/2 while Dullahan is 7/2 and Union Rags is 4/1. Paynter, who unlike I’ll Have Another, Dullahan and Union Rags, didn’t compete in either the Kentucky Derby or the Preakness Stakes is 8/1.
Continuing with the updated odds, Street Life is 15/1 while Atigun, Optimizer and Unstoppable U are all 30/1. The long shots for this year’s Belmont Stakes are Five Sixteen, Guyana Star Dweej and Ravelo’s Boy, who are all 50/1 to win, respectively.
I’ll Have Another will attempt to become the 12th Triple Crown winner after winning the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes last month. His path to victory become a little less muddied when it was announced that Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes runner-up Bodemeister would not compete in the Belmont Stakes. Bodemeister was the horse that nearly won the previous two Triple Crown races before I’ll Have Another beat him out down the stretch.
Dullahan finished third in this year’s Kentucky Derby and didn’t race in the Preakness so he should be well rested. The same can be said for Union Rags, who was one of the favorites along with Bodemeister to win the Kentucky Derby. He finished a disappointing seventh at Churchill Downs but he has the skillset to upset I’ll Have Another this Saturday.
