Dual in Detroit Predictions
With the Indy 500 in the rear-view mirror, the IndyCar Series will now host two races this weekend with the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit. Here’s the drivers we like for this weekend.
The Duals In Detroit are two separate races taking place on Saturday and Sunday from Belle Isle. Each race will be 164.5 miles, or 70 laps around the track. The first race takes place Saturday at 3:30PM ET and air on ABC. Sunday’s race will be at 3:30PM ET on ABC as well. According to oddsmakers, Josef Newgarden is favored to win, as he is listed with 4/1 odds. Other short odds to win are Scott Dixon (5/1), Will Power (6/1) and Simon Pagenaud (6/1).
Will Power 6/1
While Will Power could have an Indy 500 hangover, this event has been pretty good for him. He has picked up a win in one of these two races in 2016 and 2014. Power has won the last two races in the series and now holds the points lead. I think Power can be someone that can re-focus quickly and put together a strong run at Belle Isle.
Sebastian Bourdais 8/1
Bourdais is also a two-time winner at Belle Isle, taking a dual in 2015 and 2016. He has already shown he can perform well at track that he’s done well at before by winning the season opener for the second consecutive year. He didn’t get a chance to compete for a win in Detroit last year, so I think he will be itching for the chance this weekend. Sitting eighth in the point standings, Bourdais needs a strong run this weekend.
Graham Rahal 18/1
Rahal made history last year by winning both of these races. He has to be excited at the chance to return to this track, as he is sixth in the standings and could use a boost. Despite being sixth, he still has finished in the top 10 in all six races in 2018. I think his very long odds make him a very valuable wager this weekend.
