Indy 500 Picks
The running of the 2010 Indianapolis 500 takes place on Sunday afternoon and our team of writers and handicappers have three suggested plays for the race.
Helio Castroneves 5/2
Castroneves is hard to stay away from on Sunday as he is a former three-time champion and starting from the pole, which has produced more Indy 500 winners than any other starting spot. It was be hard to see Castroneves not contending for the lead late in the race and with 5/2 odds, he can still provide a solid payout.
Scott Dixon 7/2
A lot like Castroneves, Dixon has a track record of racing well at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Along with winning the 2008 Indy 500, he has finished second, and sixth twice in previous years. Dixon starts in the second row on Sunday from the No. 6 position and with essentially 3.5/1 odds, Dixon could also provide a good payday for a victory.
Dan Wheldon 25/1
If you are looking for a long shot on Sunday, look no further than Wheldon, who has 25/1 odds to win the race despite being a former champion and last year’s runner-up. Wheldon will start in the middle of the pack in 18th position on Sunday, but a proven track record of success makes us believe that he will contend to be up front.
The 2010 Indianapolis 500 will take place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indianapolis, Indiana on Sunday, May 30.
