2014 Belmont Stakes odds California Chrome Triple Crown

ELMONT, NY (The Spread) - The odds for the 2014 Belmont Stakes are out and it's no surprise to see that California Chrome is currently favored to win.

After taking down the first two legs of this year's Triple Crown, California Chrome is currently a 1/1 favorite to win the 2014 Belmont Stakes according to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI. California Chrome was also favored to win the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.

Ride On Curlin, who gave California Chrome a challenge down the stretch at the Preakness a few weeks ago, has the next-best odds to win the Belmont at 5/1. Commanding Curve, who finished second to California Chrome in the Kentucky Derby, is 15/2 to win the Belmont Stakes.

Continuing with the odds, Tonalist is also 15/2 to win next Saturday's Belmont Stakes, while Wicked Strong is 9/1 and Medal Count is 14/1. Samraat is also 20/1, while Commissioner, Matterhorn and Social Inclusion are all 33/1, respectively. The two contenders with the longest odds are Kid Cruz and Matuszak, who are both 40/1, respectively.

California Chrome currently has EVEN odds to win the 2014 Triple Crown and 5/7 to lose horse racing's most prestigious honor. No horse has won the Triple Crown since Affirmed pulled off the feat in 1978.

One other note: The New York Racing Association stewards, after consultation with New York State Gaming Commission equine medical director Scott Palmer, also unanimously approved the use of equine nasal strips at all NYRA racetracks. That means that California Chrome can race with his nasal strips in the Belmont.
