Patrick is set to contend in her seventh Indy 500. She has two top 5’s in her career, with her best finish being third in 2009. Patrick has finished worse than 8th just one time at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Last year she qualified 23rd but finished sixth. Her starting spot this year is the worst she has ever qualified in this race.
Kanaan has struggled in this race over recent years, finishing outside the top 10 the last four seasons. Kanaan’s best finish in the Indy 500 was second back in 2004, and he has three top 5’s at this track in his career. Qualifying usually hasn’t been an issue for him, as he hasn’t started outside the top 6 in his first eight appearance, but qualified 33rd last year and finished 11th.
This season, Kanaan has finished ahead of Patrick in all but one race. He has three top 10’s to just one for Patrick. Danica’s best finish this season was seventh, while Kanaan’s was third.
The Indianapolis 500 will take place Sunday, May 29 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at Noon ET. The race will air on ABC.
