According to oddsmakers at online sports book Bodog.com, Wheldon had 25/1 odds to win the race coming into the event, meaning a $100 wager on Wheldon pay out an additional $2,500.

The race was largely controlled by teammates Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti, but the rookie, Hildebrand, was able to find himself with the lead on the final lap, only to crash on the final turn.

That opened the door for Wheldon, who also wont he Indy 500 back in 2005. Wheldon had been the runner-up the last two years in this race.
