Breeders Cup Classic Opening Odds
LEXINGTON, KY (The Spread) - American Pharoah hasn't even run in the Belmont Stakes but he's already favored to win the Breeders Cup Classic in late October.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, American Pharoah has opened as a 3/1 favorite to win the Breeders Cup Classic, which will take place October 30-31 at Keeneland. California Chrome has the next best odds to win at 10/1, although Palace Malice is also 10/1, respectively.
Bayern and Toast Of New York are both 12/1 to win the Breeders Cup Classic this year while Dortmund is 14/1 and Tonalist is 15/1. Constitution, Firing Line, Materiality and Wicked Strong are all 20/1, respectively, while Lea is 22/1.
American Pharoah won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes and will have an opportunity to capture the first Triple Crown in horse racing since Affirmed accomplished the feat in 1978. He must win the Belmont Stakes, however, which is the race that has tripped up many Triple Crown contenders, including California Chrome in 2014.
Below is a complete list of odds for the Breeders Cup Classic, although much can obviously change over these next couple of months. We'll produce updated articles when the odds shift leading up to late October's race.
