Alex Tagliani Indy 500 Odds
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (TheSpread) – Alex Tagliani was a surprise to win the pole for the 2011 Indianapolis 500, but can he also be a surprise winner of Sunday’s race?
According to oddsmakers at online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, Tagliani has 11/2 to pick up the victory in the Indy 500 on Sunday.
Tagliani won the pole position for the race and he will start up front in the first position on Sunday. 42 winners of the Indy 500 have started in Row 1 and 20 winners were the pole sitters. The last driver to win from the pole was Helior Castroneves back in 2009.
Tagliani has only competed twice in the Indianapolis 500. He finished 11th in 2009 after starting 33rd and he finished 10th after starting fifth a year ago.
Tagliani is seventh in the current IRL standings. He is winless on the season and in his IRL career. His best finish in an IRL race in his career is fourth. This year, Tagliani has one top five and two top 10’s.
The Indianapolis 500 will take place Sunday, May 29 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at Noon ET. The race will air on ABC.
