Dan Wheldon Indy 500 Odds
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (TheSpread) – Dan Wheldon has found himself in the hunt to win a number of Indianapolis 500 races in the past, can he find himself in the hunt again on Sunday?
According to oddsmakers at online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, Wheldon, a former Indy 500 champion, has 10/1 odds to win this year’s race.
Wheldon will start in Row 2 on Sunday from the sixth position. 17 Indy 500 winners have come from Row 2 and just four winners have come from the sixth starting position. The last of those winners was back in 1959.
Wheldon has driven in the last eight Indianapolis 500’s. He has a tendency of finishing near the front as he has finished fourth or better in five of his eight appearances. He won the 2005 race after starting 16th and he finished second the last two years after starting 18th in both races.
Wheldon has not competed in the 2011 IndyRacing League yet this season, but he will be driving in Sunday’s race under Bryan Herta Autosports.
The Indianapolis 500 will take place Sunday, May 29 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at Noon ET. The race will air on ABC.
