Scott Dixon Indy 500 Outlook
One of IndyCar’s best, Scott Dixon, has come close to winning the Indianapolis 500 for a second time. Will he finally end his 10-year drought and claim the checkered flag this Sunday?
The Indianapolis 500 is a 500-mile race that will be held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The race takes place today on Sunday at 11AM ET and will air live on ABC. According to oddsmakers, Scott Dixon is one of four drivers listed with 10/1 odds to win. Alexander Rossi is the favorite with 8/1 odds while Helio Castroneves has 9/1 odds.
Dixon the 2008 winner
Scott Dixon won this race from the pole position in 2008, but hasn’t been able to re-create that magic since. He has come close, finishing in the top 10 six times and in the top 5 four times. He also has been on the pole two different times. This year, Dixon is starting from the ninth position.
Steady in 2018
Despite currently sitting fourth in the point standings, Dixon has been pretty steady in the IndyCar Series this year. He has placed sixth or better in four of the five races this year. His worst finish was 11th. Dixon is a four-time former series champion and is in the mix in most races he competes in.
Indy 500 Outlook
Dixon definitely could be one to watch out for. He has been in the mix many times in his career. Last year he finished 32nd and each time he has finished outside the top 20 in the Indy 500, he came back and finished sixth or better the next year. Dixon has a respectable starting position as well, being in the third row to open the race. That should allow him to push the leaders right away and possibly come away with the win when all is said and done.
