INDIANAPOLIS, IN (TheSpread) – As a former Indianapolis 500 contender, Tony Kanaan knows what it takes to get to be in the hunt on Sunday. Will he be able to do it again?
According to oddsmakers at online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com, Kanaan has 25/1 odds to win this year’s Indianapolis 500.
Kanaan will start this year’s Indy 500 from Row 8 in the 23rd position. In the history of the Indy 500, no driver has ever won when starting from the 23rd spot and just two drivers have won when starting at in Row 8.
Kanaan has competed in nine Indy 500’s. His best finish was second in 2004 and he has finished in the top 5 in three of the nine races he has driven in. Kanaan is coming off a 11th place finish last year after finishing outside the top 20 in the two years prior.
This season, Kanaan has finished in the top 8 in three of the four IRL race. He is currently sixth in the point standings but is coming off a 22nd-place finish in the last race. Kanaan’s last win came last year at Iowa.
The Indianapolis 500 will take place Sunday, May 29 from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway at Noon ET. The race will air on ABC.
