With Dortmund and Firing Line skipping the race in Elmont, oddsmakers consider Frosted at 5/1 to be American Pharoah's main competition at the Belmont Stakes. Forested finished fourth in the Kentucky Derby but won the Wood Memorial on April 4 and is well rested after skipping the Preakness.
Continuing with the odds, Materiality is 15/2 to win the Belmont Stakes while Mubtaahij is 14/1 and Carpe Diem is 18/1. Tale of Verve, who nearly upset American Pharoah in the Preakness after being listed as a 50/1 long shot, is 28/1 to win the Belmont after finishing second at Pimlico.
