I’ll Have Another edged out Bodemeister to win the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs two weeks ago. Bodemeister finished second, while Dullahan placed third and Went The Day Well was fourth. Creative Cause was fifth, Daddy Nose Best was 10th and Optimizer was 11th. Those are the only contenders that will appear in the Preakness Stakes after running at the Kentucky Derby.

Bodemeister has been impressive throughout his entire career. He placed second at a MSW at Santa Antonia Park on January 16 and then won a MSW on February 11. He then placed second at the Grade II San Felipe Stakes on March 10 and won the Grade I Arkansas Derby on April 14 before placing second at the Grade I Kentucky Derby two weeks ago.

This will be the 137th running of the Preakness Stakes, which was inaugurated in 1873. It’s a 1 3/16 (9.5 furlongs) race and carries a purse of $1 million. The Gates at Pimlico Race Course will open at 8:00AM ET and the Preakness post time is set for 6:05PM ET.
