Preakness Stakes Top 3 Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) - Which contenders are most likely to finish in the top 3 in today's 2014 Preakness Stakes? Let's take a look at the odds.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, California Chrome has the best odds to finish in the money at 1/7. That's no surprise considering that he's won five consecutive races, including the 2014 Kentucky Derby two weeks at Churchill Downs. California Chrome is also the overall favorite today at 5/9.
Continuing with those odds, Dynamic Impact is 11/4 to finish in the top 3 while General A Rod is 17/4 and Ring Weekend is a long shot at 5/1. Bayern, meanwhile, is 9/4 while Ria Antonia is 9/2 and Kid Cruz is 5/2. Social Inclusion, who has the next-best odds to California Chrome, is 1/1 to finish in the money while Pablo Del Monte is 9/2 and Ride On Curlin is 2/1.
Social Inclusion is a contender to watch today. He finished third in the Grade I Wood Memorial earlier last month behind Wicked Strong and Samraat, two contenders that ran in the Kentucky Derby. Social Inclusion also won his first two races - an Allowance on March 12 and a MSW on February 22 - so he's finished in the money in all three of his career races.
One other note for bettors: The forecasted weather for today's race is 67 degrees and partly cloudy. Two inches of rain hit the Baltimore, Maryland area on Friday but the track is expected to be dry and thus, run fast. Weather won't be a factor today, which is important seeing as how the playing field should run true.
The 2014 Preakness Stakes will take place today, Saturday, May 17 at 6:20PM ET (post time).
