2014 Preakness Betting Preview
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) - The post time for the 2014 Preakness Stakes is rapidly approaching so with that, let's take one final look at the field.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, California Chrome remains the favorite to win today's Preakness at 5/9 odds, while Social Inclusion has the next-best odds at 13/2. Bayern is also 12/1, while Ride On Curlin and Kid Cruz are 14/1, respectively, and Dynamic Impact is 18/1. General A Rod, meanwhile, is 22/1, while Ria Antonia is 25/1 and both Ring Weekend and Pablo Del Monte are 28/1, respectively.
California Chrome is the obvious choice to win the 2014 Preakness considering he's won five consecutive races, including the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago. While Social Inclusion makes for an intriguing contender, California Chrome is expected to cruise to victory and challenge for the 2014 Triple Crown.
California Chrome drew the No. 3 post position earlier this week while Dynamic Impact drew the rail. General A Rod will start in the No. 2 gate while Rind Weekend drew the No. 4 post and Bayern will come out of post No. 5. Ria Antonia (No. 6), Kid Cruz (No. 7), Social Inclusion (No. 8), Pablo Del Monte (No. 9) and Ride On Curlin (No. 10) round out the rest of today's post positions.
The weather for this evening is expected to be in the high 60s and partly cloudy. On Friday at midnight, the Baltimore, Maryland area was hit with two inches of rain, which could have impacted today's race. But the conditions should be fare today and the dirt dry, making for a fast track. Thus, weather shouldn't be a factor.
The 2014 Preakness Stakes will take place today, Saturday, May 17 at 6:20PM ET (post time).
