Mylute Preakness Stakes Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) - With the Preakness Stakes now just two nights away, Mylute's odds continue to rise as we approach post time at Pimlico Racecourse.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Mylute is 13/2 to win this weekend's Preakness Stakes, which give him the same odds as Departing. Orb remains favored at 10/11, while Goldencents is 8/1 and both Governor Charlie and Itsmyluckyday are both 10/1, respectively. Will Take Charge is 12/1, Oxbow is 16/1 and Tiltetown Five is 28/1.
Mylute finished out of the money at the Kentucky Derby but his fifth place finish must have been enough to inspire bettors to back him in the Preakness Stakes because his odds are on the rise. He also finished second at the Grade II Louisiana Derby on March 30 but his previous graded stakes race produced a seventh place finish at the Risen Star on February 23.
The 3-year-old colt won an Allowance on December 26 of last year and placed third at the Grade III Delta Downs Jackpot on November 17. He finished second at the Jean Lafitte on October 20, fifth at the Grade III Arlington-Washington Futurity on September 8 and won a Maiden Special Weight on August 11.
Tom Amoss is Mylute's trainer while Rosie Napravnik is his jockey. Amoss was indicted into the Fair Grounds Hall of Fame in 1998, where he has won over 10 leading trainer titles. Napravnik, meanwhile, rode Pants on Fire in the Kentucky Derby in 2011 and finished ninth, which was the best-ever finish by a female jockey.
The 2013 Preakness Stakes is this Saturday, May 18 with the official post time set for 6:24PM ET.
