Pretension Preakness Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) – 2012 Preakness Stakes contender Pretension will be a long shot to win this Saturday’s race at Pimlico Race Course.
Oddsmakers have installed Pretension as a 25/1 long shot to win the 2012 Preakness Stakes. Bodemeister and I’ll Have Another are the current favorites to win at Pimlico Race Course at 7/2, while Creative Cause and Went The Day Well have the next best odds at 6/1.
Pretension is coming off a victory at the Canoero II Stakes at Pimlico on May 5 and in his outing previous to that race, he finished ninth at the Grade III Illinois Derby on April 7. He also finished fifth at the Grade III Gotham on March 3, he won the Sweet Enovy on February 11, and second in an Allowance on January 4.
Pretension has an official race record of 5-1-2-0 and has grossed $128,620 throughout his career. The 3-year-old colt is the son of Bluegrass Cat and this dam is Main Streetin’. He will come out of the No. 3 post position for Saturday's race.
This will be the 137th running of the Preakness Stakes, which was inaugurated in 1873. It’s a 1 3/16 (9.5 furlongs) race and carries a purse of $1 million. The Gates at Pimlico Race Course will open at 8:00AM ET and the Preakness post time is set for 6:05PM ET.
