Will Dortmund finish in the money?
PIMLICO, BALTIMORE (The Spread) - After finishing in the top 3 at the Kentucky Derby, will Dortmund repeat the feat and finish in the money at today's Preakness Stakes?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the odds that Dortmund will finish in the money in the Preakness Stakes are 1/2, while the odds that he won't finish in the top 3 are 8/5. That means for every $200.00 that you wager on him finishing in the money, you'll claim $100.00 on a winning bet. And for every $500.00 you wager on him finishing outside the top three, you'll claim $800.00 on a winning wager.
Dortmund has yet to finish outside of the top 3 in his career. In fact, the Kentucky Derby was the first time he didn't win a race in six career races, as he claimed victory at the Santa Anita Derby, the San Felipe Stakes, the Robert B. Lewis, the Los Alamitos Futurity, as well as an allowance and a MSW.
The smart money is that Dortmund will finish in one of the top three spots at the Preakness. Outside of American Pharoah and Kentucky Derby running up Firing Line, there isn't much competition in this year's second leg of the Triple Crown.
