Tone It Down Update
The 134th running of the Preakness Stakes is set to run today and Tone It Down remains one of the thoroughbreds with massive long odds to win at 42/1.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.COM set Tone It Down’s opening odds at 35/1 to win, but have since updated the 3-year old’s odds to 42/1. He joins other long shots Flying Private (50/1), Take The Points (25/1) and Luv Gov (45/1) Saturday at Pimlico Race Course.
Even though his odds are stacked against him and he hasn’t faced a ton of top competition throughout his career, Tone It Down has run well over the past couple races. He finished third at the Federico Tesio S. on May 2, first at the Allowance/Opitonsl Claiming on April 1 and second at the Allowance/Otionals Claiming on March 14.
Can Tone It Down surprise and make a run of things in Baltimore? Why not, after all, Mine That Bird was a 50/1 long shot to win the Kentucky Derby and he did just that. Of course, the conditions at Churchill Downs played into Mine That Bird’s victory, but even so, Tone It Down shouldn’t be counted out.
The 2009 Preakness Stakes takes place today at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. For complete odds see below, and for general information about this year’s race, be sure to check out our 2009 Preakness Stakes Viewing Guide.
