IndyCar Grand Prix Predictions
The 2018 IndyCar Season continues on Saturday afternoon with the running of the IndyCar Grand Prix. Here’s three drivers we think can contend for the victory.
The IndyCar Grand Prix is a 207-mile race that will be held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s street circuit. The race takes place today at 3:30PM ET and will air on ABC. According to oddsmakers, Will Power comes into today’s race as the favorite with +325 odds. Other short odds to win are Josef Newgarden (+375), Alexander Rossi (+550), Scott Dixon (+550) and Simon Pagenaud (+550).
Will Power +325
Power is a two-time winner of this race and the defending champion. Better known for his street driving than open-track ability, Power is understandably a favorite today despite a lackluster 2018 thus far. Through four races he has just one top-5 finish, but it was a runner-up finish on a street course. This course has been very good to Power and it would be a good way to kick of the month at Indy.
Simon Pagenaud +550
If Power hasn’t won, it has been Pagenaud that has. He is the winner of the other two editions of this race, last winning in 2016. The 2016 series champion is also off to a bit of a rocky start this year, finishing outside the top 5 in all four races. However, this is a perfect track for him to get back on the right side of things. Even a year ago, he placed fourth here. He has the best average finish at IMS of any driver in the field.
Sebastien Bourdais +750
Bourdais hasn’t had great luck at this race the last two years, placing outside the top 20. However, he finished fourth in both 2015 and 2014 and I think he will be closer to the front this year. Bourdais is currently third in the standings. He has one win with another top-5 finish and hasn’t placed outside the top 15 in any race. I think he works his way to the front of the pack today and possibly pulls off the small upset.
