2014 Preakness Stakes Odds
BALTIMORE, MD (The Spread) – The 2014 Preakness Stakes takes place on Saturday and you won’t be surprised to see which contender is listed as the current favorite.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome is currently the favorite to win the Preakness at 5/9 odds. Social Inclusion and Danza have the next-best odds at 6/1, while Bayern is 10/1 and Ride on Curlin is 12/1.
Continuing with the current odds, Kid Cruz is 15/1 to win the Preakness this weekend, while Dynamic Impact is 16/1 and Strong Mandate is 17/1. General A Rod and Ring Weekend are 20/1, respectively, while Pablo Del Monte, who was held out of the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, is 24/1. The contender with the longest odds to win is Ria Antonia, who is currently 32/1.
California Chrome ran away with the Kentucky Derby down the backstretch, cashing in as a 2/1 favorite. He currently has +225 odds on the money line to win the Triple Crown, and -350 to lose one of his next two races and thus, fail to win horse racing’s most prestiogous honor. That means for every $100.00 that you wager, you’ll win $225.00 on California Chrome winning the Triple Crown, and $100.00 for every $350.00 that you wager on California Chrome coming up empty.
Danza is an intriguing contender this week after placing third at Churchill Downs two weeks ago. He was listed among the favorites to win the Kentucky Derby, although he was 10/1 the morning of the race so it’s not as if he was placed among California Chrome when it came to winning the event. Still, he’s never finished lower than third in five career races and won the Arkansas Derby back in April, so he’s a contender to watch this weekend.
