NHL Game Previews
A seventh game in the NHL playoffs is one of the most exciting things in sports. We have that tonight with Montreal and Pittsburgh, plus a great Game 6 between Boston and Philly.
Here’s the latest from BroburySports.com.
Montreal Canadiens (+210) at Pittsburgh Penguins – Game 7
Pittsburgh is the defending champ, with some of the most high profile names in the game like Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. This series wasn’t supposed to last seven games, but here we are after Montreal won Game 6 at home (4-3) on Monday night.
This is the type of game where you expect superstars to come up big. Crosby already had a historical moment in the Olympics, but he certainly has another big goal or two left in him.
Montreal has been kept in this series by its defense and goaltender Jaroslav Halak. He made 34 saves in Game 6 and has a 1.81 GAA in the last five games of this series.
The Canadiens have had a magical run in the playoffs so far. They already beat top-seed Washington in a road Game 7 in the first round. However, this is the tougher test as Pittsburgh is far more battled hardened than the soft Caps.
Boston Bruins (+125) at Philadelphia Flyers – Game 6
Boston raced out to a 3-0 series lead and it looked like a trip to the conference finals was guaranteed. However, Philly was able to stave off elimination in Game 4 at home, 5-4 in overtime.
Philly dominated Monday’s Game 5 in Boston to the tune of 4-0. The Flyers believe they can be the third team in NHL History (along with the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs and 1975 New York Islanders) to come back from a 3-0 series deficit.
Philly goalie Brian Boucher is out for the series with a sprained knee. It happened on Monday and Michael Leighton came in to make 14 saves to preserve the shutout. Leighton had been out since March 16 with an ankle sprain.
Both teams have been hit hard with injuries, but Boston really seems to miss top center David Krejci. The Bruins could also be suffering from a crisis in confidence now.
Can Philly take the series to a Game 7 in Boston?
