Oscar Nominated Kentucky Derby Odds
Spiral Stakes winner Oscar Nominated will look to upset the field when he races in Saturday’s Kentucky Derby. Here’s a preview of the colt ahead of tomorrow’s race.
The Odds: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Oscar Nominated is a 50/1 long shot to win the Kentucky Derby on Saturday. Although Trojan Nation has the same odds, those are the longest odds of any contender in the field this year. Nyquist remains the favorite at 3/1 odds.
A Snapshot: Trained by Mike Maker and owned by Ken and Sarah Ramsey, Oscar Nominated has earned $371,860 over his career. In seven starts he’s finished first three times, second two times, and third no times. His pedigree is Kitten’s Joy – Devine Actress, by Theatrical and his jockey for Saturday is Julien Leparoux. His running style is that of a stalker/closer.

BETTING OVERVIEW: Oscar Nominated won the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati Spiral Stakes on the synthetic Polytrack surface at Turfway Park by a neck and punched his ticket to the Kentucky Derby. The biggest question facing this contender is whether or not he can be effective on dirt. The last winner of the Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park to go on to win the Kentucky Derby was Animal Kingdom in 2011, but that was a rare racehorse that could run on any surface.
