Whitmore Kentucky Derby Odds
After finishing in the money in four consecutive stars, Whitmore will look to surprise the field on Saturday during the 2016 Kentucky Derby.
The Odds: According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Whitmore is 20/1 to win this weekend at Chuchill Downs. For comparison, the favorite, Nyquist, has odds of 3/1 to win, while Exaggerator has the next-best odds at 8/1. Both Creator and Gun Runner are 10/1, respectively.
A Snapshot: In six career starts Whitmore has two wins, two second-place finishes, and one third-place showings for career earnings of $475,000 ($79,167 per start). Owned by Robert LaPenta, Harry Rosenblum and Southern Spring Stables, Whitemore was trained by Ron Moquett and will be rode by Victor Espinoza. With a pedigree of Pleasantly Perfect – Melody’s Spirit, by Scat Daddy, Whitmore’s running style is that of a stalker/closer.

BETTING OVERVIEW: Whitmore finished second in both the Southwest and the Rebel Stakes before taking third in the Arkansas Derby, which was his final prep for the Kentucky Derby. Espinoza has won five of his last six Triple Crown races atop the powerful California Chrome and mystical American Pharoah, who of course made history last year. Moquett also saddled Far Right in last year’s Kentucky Derby and co-owner LaPenta won the 2008 Belmont Stakes with Da’Tara. Thus, Whitmore’s team has quit the resume.
