Odds: Oddsmakers from online sports book listed Mucho Macho Man at +1400 earlier this week when they updated their odds. But since then he’s gone from +1400 down to +1000, so bettors have taken notice. Dialed In remains the favorite at +250 and now that Uncle Mo has been scratched, Nehro is listed behind Dialed In at +700.

Race History: Mucho Macho Man has gathered some experience against top competition since last November. He placed second in back-to-back outings at the Nashua (Grade 2) and Remsen (Grade 2) in November of last year, then took fourth at the Holy Bull (Grade 3) on January 30. In February, he won the Risen Star over fellow Kentucky Derby contender Santiva and placed third in his last outing at the Louisiana Derby (Grade 2) behind Pants On Fire and Nehro.

Post Position: On Wednesday, Mucho Macho Man drew the No. 11 post position, which has produced three Kentucky Derby winners all-time. The rail and the No. 5 positions have produced the most winners at 12 apiece.

Outlook: Some observers wonder if Mucho Macho Man will tire late, but he definitely has the strength to emerge victorious. He didn’t draw the best post position but his experience facing good competition leading up to the Kentucky Derby will help. He may not win, but bettors may want to take a look at him to finish somewhere in the money.
