Gemologist vs. Dullahan Odds
LOUISVILLE, KY (The Spread) – Who will finish higher in Saturday’s 138th running of the Kentucky Derby, Dullahan or Gemologist?
Oddsmakers have installed Gemologist as a –160 money line favorite to beat out Dullahan at the Kentucky Derby. If you place a wager on Gemologist, he doesn’t have to win the race he just has to beat out Dullahan. These are odds for the specific head to head prop for these two horses.
In five career races, Gemologist has never lost. He finished first at a MSW on September 24 of last year, won an Allowance on October 10 of last year, placed first at the Grade II Kentucky Jockey Club on November 26, and won another Allowance on March 16 of this year. He’s also coming off a victory at the Grade I Wood Memorial on April 7.
Dullahan is coming off a win at the Grade I Blue Grass on February 14 and a second place finish at the Grade III Palm Beach on March 11. He also placed fourth at the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile on November 5 of last year and won the Grade I Breeders’ Futurity on October 8.
In terms of the general odds to win, Gemologist is 19/10 to win the 2012 Kentucky Derby while Dullahan is 12/5. Gemologist will come out of the No. 15 post position while Dullahan will start from the No. 5 gate.
