According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Orb is a 12/1 favorite to win the 2013 Triple Crown, although Verrazano's odds are close at 14/1. The contenders with the next best odds are Revolutionary and Goldencents, who are both 25/1 to win horse racing's most prestigious honor in 2013.
Continuing with this year's Triple Crown odds, Normandy Invasion is 33/1, Overanalyze and Itsmyluckyday are 50/1, respectively, and Java's War and Vyjack are both 60/1, respectively. Mylute, Palace Malice, Charming Kitten and Will Take Charge are all 100/1, respectively.
Getting into the rest of the long shots, Lines of Battle is 125/1 to win this year's Triple Crown, while Oxbow is 150/1. Golden Soul, Giant Finish, Falling Sky and Frac Daddy have the worst Triple Crown odds heading into this year's Kentucky Derby, as all four of the contenders are 200/1, respectively.
There have only been 11 horses to win the Triple Crown: Sir Barton (1919), Gallant Fox (1930), Omaha (1935), War Admiral (1937), Whirlaway (1941), Count Fleet (1943), Assault (1946), Citation (1948), Secretariat (1973), Seattle Slew (1977) and Affirmed (1978). Some horse racing pundits believe that the sport will never see another Triple Crown winner again.
