Trinniberg Derby Odds & Preview
LOUISVILLE, KY (The Spread) – If odds mean anything, Trinniberg probably won’t find himself among the top 3 at this Saturday’s Kentucky Derby.
Oddsmakers currently list Trinniberg as a 50/1 long shot, which are the worst odds on the board for any contender. (Although Rousing Sermon and Liaison are both 50/1 to win, as well.) Bodemeister is the currently favorite at 4/1 while Union Rags has the next best odds at 5/1 and Gemologist is 13/2.
Despite his long odds to win the Kentucky Derby, Trinniberg did have plenty of success in his previous two races. He won the Grade III Swale on March 10 and then came back on April 7 to win the Grade III Bay Shore. He also won a MSW on July 8 of last year, although he placed fifth at the Grade II Saratoga Special on August 15, second at the Grade I Hopeful on September 5, second at the Grade II Nashua on October 2 and seventh at the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Sprint on November 4.
Shivananda Racing is the owners of Trinniberg while Bisnath Parboo is his trainer and Willie Martinez is his jockey. Trinniberg drew the No. 9 post position on Wednesday and will be flanked by No. 8 Creative Cause and No. 10 Daddy Nose Best.
The 2012 Kentucky Derby is set for Saturday, May 5 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The post positions will be drawn on Wednesday and we’ll have coverage leading up to the race on Saturday so make sure you check out The Spread for more horse racing content.
