LOUISVILLE, KY (The Spread) – 2012 Kentucky Derby contender Sabercat is one of the long shots to win this Saturday’s race at Churchill Downs.
According to oddsmakers Sabercat is a 30/1 long shot to win this Saturday’s race while Bodemeister is a 4/1 favorite and Union Rags has the next best odds at 7/2. Gemologist is 6/1 while Dullahan is 8/1 and both Take Charge Indy and Hansen are 10/1, respectively.
Sabercat is coming off a third place finish at the Grade I Arkansas Derby on April 14. He also placed eighth at the Grade II Rebel on March 17, which was his only other race this year. That said, he did win back to back races at the Garden State on October 2 and the Grade III Delta Downs Jackpot on November 19.
Winchell Thoroughbreds are the owners of Sabercat while Steve Asmussen is his trainer and Corey Nakatani is his jockey. Sabercat drew the No. 18 post position on Wednesday and will be flanked by No. 17 Done talking and No. 19 I’ll Have Another.
