2015 Kentucky Derby Predictions
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) – Which contenders will finish in the top 3 in this evening’s Kentucky Derby? Here are our selections.
WIN: Dortmund 4/1
Dortmund hasn’t lost a race in his career. He won the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Futurity on December 20 of last year, the Grade 2 Robert B. Lewis on February 7, the Grade 2 San Felipe Stakes on March 7 and the Santa Anita Derby on April 4. The last winner of the Santa Anita Derby also won the Kentucky Derby, which took place last year when California Chrome won. Dortmund has enough natural speed to win it all this evening.
PLACE: American Pharoah 3/1
American Pharoah is an outstanding talent and certainly has the ability to win, as evidence by his odds. He’s remained the favorite to win all week and is coming off a victory in the Arkansas Derby. Some believe that we haven’t seen the best of him, but we’re calling a small upset by Dortmund down the stretch. Still, American Pharoah should finish in the money.
SHOW: Firing Line 9/1
Out of the entire field, Firing Line came closer than any contender at beating Dortmund, which came in the Grade 2 Robert B. Lewis Stakes on February 7. He’s also coming off a victory in the Grade 3 Sunland Derby and has the talent to finish in the money today.
